hi everyone
Nice to see another forum! I do work my girl- I had my own sheep, but alas, where I was keeping them was not working out (charging me an arm and a leg, and the wrong fencing. So, I continue to train with my mentor, and we have been doing well- I think. Those of you who don't have sheep, do not let that stop you. Whenever, and however you can get your dog on sheep with a good trainer-- that is really the best thing you can do. It really has changed my life. Anyone else here working their dogs?

Well, now that I have a new cat, I need either help in using Gimp to make a new siggy, or someone to make me one that includes Arwen. Im ok with just adding to the current one too. Someone? Anyone?

  Time for a Proper Introduction!
Posted by: BCMixs - 10-18-2007, 06:40 PM - Forum: General Border Collie Discussion - Replies (10)

Ok. For now, I'm not going to publicly discuss where this dog came from. I'm just going to start with Day 1 with us. Maybe later I'll tell the tale.

This is our new family member Indiana Jones! We tracked down through his microchip that that was his original name and we like it better than the one he had, so his name here is Indie.

He is 18 months old and we discovered, also through his microchip that he has the same birthday as my son, so I think it was meant to be! When he came into the house, he crawled halfway onto the couch and laid his head on my daughters shoulder and we were sunk!
(insert wub icon here!)

He's also very tall (26") but very skinny, only 39 lbs. when I got him on the 5th. I'm working on getting him back to a healthy weight and he's gained 4 1/2 lbs so far. I'm feeding him 5-6 times a day with small meals that his system can manage. This is how skinny he is. But, not for long!

He was so hungry when we got him, he though Woobie was a treat! Tongue But they get along like peas and carrots. It was a great match from the get go!

Here's an indication of the differences in size. Woobie is 35 lbs.

But we're thrilled to have him and have already abandoned the rule of no dogs on the furniture!

I'm watching Inside Edition and they're showing pics of Ellen & Portia with loads of different dogs that no one knows what happened to, including a cute BC from San Francisco. Geez! Can't these two find a dog that works? Or maybe they should stick to cats! I can't get over the clips I'm seeing of her on air pleas. Give me a friggin' break!

ARGH Vent... Coffee Break thread on other boards
Posted by: smileyzookie - 10-18-2007, 01:12 PM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (40)

I dont know why this eats me up so much but good grief. Why is it so dam difficult for these people to change their profile from view new posts?? It just makes me so dang angry. If people dont want to see the coffee break there has to be a way to prevent those posts from showing when only viewing new posts. Its like, they give us this cool section, and then says sorry only if its relevant can you post... er... then it really isnt a off topic section is it? I think the issue for me is, the working people complain and its like oh bow to you and your mighty sheep. Im exaggerating, and it isnt anyone in particular but it just eats me up, and Im not posting this on the other board cause Im now afraid to post in coffee break lol.

vent over......

I just got home from Uni tonight. I'm doing an extra course for work. My tutor and I just clash big time! Anyway she opened my folder, read a couple of pages, then told me it wasn't in-depth enough and I haven't done enough research and referencing. She said "bluntly" I'd be lucky to get a C pass, I answered "bluntly" I'd be quite happy with that.
I have given this my all, it's doing my f"£^%*ng head in to put it "bluntly".
One week she tells us one thing - the next week she tells something else and the whole group don't know whether we're coming or going. I just need to hope when we put in the paper she's not the first marker :x

The pups are glued to the tv right now watching the story of Shiloh the hero BCMix! She saves her wolf hybrid companion Stikia(sp?) when she falls into an abandoned well. The expressions they're making in response to the dogs' whining and barking are hilarious!

Shiloh the BC is a real cutie!
