  Missing Steve Irwin
Posted by: kelpiegirl - 11-07-2007, 09:47 AM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (3)

When I had learned that Steve Irwin, the seemingly immortal "Crocodile Hunter" had died, I cried and cried. I was so very sad for the world's loss of him as a devout conservationist, as well as his family, Terri, Bindi and Bob. Well, I saw a show where he and Terri and Bindy were on a beach talking about some seals, or sea lions- don't remember, and I said "He shouldn't have died". I am getting misty just bringing this up. I miss the guy. Some things are just hard to accept.
Thanks for letting me get this out.

  Advertising on the website
Posted by: Brandon M - 11-06-2007, 07:34 PM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (25)

You may have noticed ads being displaying on the main page of the website. I decided to let google advertising on the site after receiving a pretty large bill this month. Im hoping that the site can pay for itself through those ads. What I dont like about it are the sites that are being advertised. Some breeders and companies I wouldn't want to promote. Im going to give it about a month and then make the decision whether I will leave them or not. Depends on the sites advertised and how much money it generates.

I always make sure I give Woobs and Indie their own bones (recreational beef rib bones) and they eat the meaty parts in their crates so there's no bickering (Woobie eats much slower than the Speed Chow Champion Indie). But once they're meat free and out of the crates, they always try to chew on the same one. Even if there's another one lying right next to them. They are so cute with each other, they'll each chew an end of the bone, and right now they're lying facing each other, alternatively doing the growly moany thing, then playing kissie face, then doing the high pitched playful puppy barks, more kissie face, then eatie face, then just looking at each other and sniffing faces, then Indie decides Woobie's ears need cleaning, then Woobie decides Indie's mouth needs some cleaning.

IT'S SO D@MN CUTE!!! They're like affectionate brothers, neither seems all that interested in Top Dog position, they're just having fun playing and wrestling! I would try to get a pic but the minute I get up, they're all over me. Need to keep the camera closer from now on because it's becoming a nightly ritual.

  Umm.. advice with Arwen..
Posted by: smileyzookie - 11-06-2007, 04:50 PM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (4)

So I got Arwens pedigree today and contacted her breeder. I wanted to see pictures of her parents and couldnt find any on her site. She wrote me and asked me if she was spayed. I said yes... this was her reply...

Quote:Because Robin, who I traded this cat to was suppose to return this cat to me because she claimed she had a tail fault and a heat murmur, which were NEVER proven to me. I demanded the return of this cat and Robin refused to return her and then closed her cattery. This cat was not to leave her possession unless she was returned her to me as stated in the signed breeding contract. There was and is a signed breeding contract on her and Robin did not follow it. Since I am the breeder of this cat with a signed contract on her, I have every right to know about her well being and that she is not being used in a breeding program.

I sure hope Autumn is well and very happy in her new home.

I do have pictures of Jazzy but I am not sure if I still have any pictures of Zoltar. I also have plenty of pictures of Autumn as a new born and older on my computer at work if you would like to have some of them. All the pictures of Jazzy are on my computer at work too since I have dial up here at home it is very hard to send pictures from here.

So if you would like any of the pictues just let me know and I well send them to you tomorrow.

Have a great day,

Sounds to me like she isnt wanting her back, but my husband is scared to death that she will. We've put over $200 into her already and other than that I really like her. I dont want to give her up. So I wrote the lady this..

Quote:Im so sorry, I didnt know anything about your contract. I love Autumn (who we've named Arwen btw) If you'd like pictures of her I'd be happy to send you some. She has so much personality and is so unlike any cat I've ever had!! She is a wonderful addition to our home. I have a few websites that have pictures on her if you'd like to see them as well. Arwens site is <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.catster.com/cats/648081">http://www.catster.com/cats/648081</a><!-- m --> . ls are much like children to me since I have no kids. If you'd like to go ahead and confirm that she's fixed the vets number is **********. The name it is under is David Martinez, and as I said her name now is Arwen.

I wanted pictures of her parents because both of my other two animals (cat and dog) I rescued, and never knew what their parents were like. I had and have (obviously) no intention of breeding her. The world is far too over populated with other cats and dogs for me to have any interest. She was spayed on Wednesday and pulled out her staples on Friday and I had to take her to the emergency vet to restaple the 2 staples she pulled out. Other than that she is just a happy frisky little kitty. I'd like to see any pictures you would like to share, and Im very excited to see pictures of her younger.

Again Im so sorry about the whole contract thing. I had no clue about it. Please feel free to ask any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I am glad to know you look out for your cats and I understand wanting to make sure she isnt being abused or anything. I just wanted to let you know that Robyn seemed determined to find a good home and wanted updates on her to make sure she was settling in. She also refused to give me the pedigree till she was spayed...which like I said I was gonna do anyway. I dont know if that helps you feel better about the whole thing, but she did seem to care a lot about her.

So hopefully she wont want her back. She is based out of Ohio, and that is quite a ways from Idaho, so I'd think it would be more expensive to get her than to just let me have her. Any advice on if she starts talking like she wants her back? I feel like the hairdresser from the Ellen drama lol

What is your dog's favorite toy....
Posted by: Weesheart - 11-05-2007, 08:38 PM - Forum: General Border Collie Discussion - Replies (5)

besides the obvious frisbee or ball?!

For Pache, well its "Bug". Bug came to our family on Easter. He is a stuffed toy that I had gotten for my son's Easter basket, but was sorely neglected by his new owner. Like all the other neglected lil beings in our house, Bug was tossed into the "big bin" in the corner of his boys room. Then came along his rescuer....a big black & white, furry creature that picked him up by the mouth. From that moment on it was luv /cloud9 at first sight. Bug now goes where Pache goes. Bug now sleeps where Pache sleeps. Amazingly, Bug is only missing 2 eyes and 2 antennae. /shocked Small price to pay for being the best friend a dog could have.

I must let you all know, Bug is the ONLY stuffed toy that has survived destuffing for any length of time. There's just something special about Bug.

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?
Posted by: smileyzookie - 11-04-2007, 07:40 PM - Forum: General Border Collie Discussion - Replies (6)

GOLDEN RETRIEVER: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

BORDER COLLIE: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.
DACHSHUND: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!
BOXER: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.
LAB: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeze, please, please, please!
GERMAN SHEPHERD: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.
JACK RUSSELL TERRIER: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.
OLD ENGLISH SHEEP DOG: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light.
POINTER: I see it, there it is, there it is, right there........
COCKER SPANIEL: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.
CHIHUAHUA: Yo quiero Toco Bulb.
AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle.........
GREYHOUND: It isn't moving. Who cares?

THE CAT'S ANSWER: Dogs do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs. So, the real question is "How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?"

  Famous Relatives
Posted by: Brandon M - 11-04-2007, 05:30 PM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (4)

I have a couple of relatives that are a little famous. My great grandfather Albert Ghiorso who's a scientist and my uncle Michael Cudlitz who's an actor. You may recognize him as he's been in a lot of movies and TV shows. I just watched the movie "Running Scared" last night and he was in it so I thought I'd start this post just for fun.

Microchipping, this is cool! Who says the AKC is bad???
Posted by: BCMixs - 11-04-2007, 03:59 PM - Forum: General Border Collie Discussion - No Replies

Indie came with a chip from Home Again. I was going to transfer his registration with them, but they want $14.99 a year. I went to the AKC Companion Animal Recovery website that I registered Woobie with and it was only $12.50 for a lifetime registration with them and they will register any manufacturer's chip. That's pretty great! And they send you a free collar tag with your $12.50 registration fee.

I ordered new collars, training collars, leashes and boomerang tags too. It's been a doggie shopping day! Smile Gotta find a side entry crate that will fit my SUV before Indie eats a seat or a seatbelt, he was chomping on the way to the lake last night. Stinker!

Petedge.com has good prices if you're buying a bunch of stuff at once.
