This is Benny and Bitsi. Benny is 15 and is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix (purposefully bred for some reason). He's extremely dumb but he has had his moments. He was hit by a car when he was around 4 years old and after that he was never quite right.

Bitsi is a Miniature Dachshund (as if the original wasn't small enough :roll: ) He's 12 years old. He's a cute dog but is really bad with kids and 99% or other people.

These two are my parents' dogs. Benny is a great little dog and Bitsi is cool, though very annoying with his yappy mouth most of the time.

My sister has bred mini wieners for years. Very cute little dogs. They also have the heart of a lion.
The mini breeds aren't my cup of tea but they are cute.

Very cute little guys, Brandon. I agree with Linda - not really my idea of an ideal dog, but still cute. I have found that both traits you mention seem farly common in those little guys - nippy and yappy.

Tassle, looks like that one could use some Border Collie rompin'....looks a little on the heavey side, or is it just the positioning?

i'm not particularly fond of the little breeds....about 15 lbs is about the smallest i really like, tho i have had smaller....

Benny passed away this evening, around 8 o'clock. He was 16 and passed very quietly. This morning he seemed really tired. Then I found him and he had passed in his sleep. Everyone will miss him. He was my parents' dog and my mother was at work until 11pm and I waited until she was home to tell her. My step dad is on his way to Wisconsin and has yet to be told.

Aw Brandon, so sorry to hear your news, your poor mum must be so upset, 16 years is a long time. That's the worst part of having pets.

Thanks Anne. My mom tries not to show it but I know she's really sad. He is wrapped in his favorite blanket and tomorrow we'll take him to be cremated like our other dogs that we've lost. He'd been slowing down a lot in the last year and there were many times when I'd pat him thinking he had passed. This time he really had. Earlier my Mom went to give him fresh water and remembered he was gone. It's going to take a lot of getting used to.

What a stressful time- but not for Benny. He just slipped out to play, the way we wish all our pets could go.

Oh Brandon, I'm so sorry to hear this. Give your mom a hug for me please. We all know how difficult it is to lose a pet, big or small, yappy or not. We will see you on the flip side Benny, take care bud.
