RE: house training
Hey!
Personally we used to take Fergus out: - When he'd just woken up (anytime of day, not just first thing) - Straight after he'd eaten (each meal) - Straight after he'd been playing and sometimes mid play if he was in for the long haul! - Before we put him in his crate and after even if he hadn't been to sleep Of course he didn't go everytime we took him out but we gave him little chance to pee or poop inside. He was trained within three weeks so much so that by a week and a half in he'd be playing and you'd see a look of pure panic on his face. All toys would be dropped and he'd run for the door. Everytime he did go outside we made a massive deal out of it and put a the words 'be clean' to it when he was actually going to the toilet. Now the words be clean mean he runs outside to do his business. I think we need pics of your puppy please!!!! - Morwenna and Fergus ![]() 'One of the seven great dogs' |

RE: house training
Oh he's gorgeous! Those eyes!!!
The biting...well I think my OH puts it best "you're all paws and teeth!" to our 12 month old boy! All of my collies have done it, not proper biting just...nibbles. However, the stairs, a mattress, a sofa and chair legs have suffered through puppy teeth! Shep even managed to chew up a Kong...

RE: house training
I think I took Finn outside every 30-60 minutes, regardless of what was going on. It was a lot of work but he was house trained quick. He only ever pooped on my floor once, which was a nice treat not to have to clean up poop lol just be consistent with taking him out and big big fuss when he does good outside. Shouldn't take him long to clue in that the door to go outside when pottying means big rewards!

I got him when he was 6 weeks and in the first week I had him he got a stomach bug and was put on a catheder which caused him to have mini pees quite frequently so that set usback but it took about 2 weeks after and he was going to the door to go outside. He had a couple accidents after that and around 10-11 weeks I was confident to say he was fully potty trained. - Katrina and Finnigan
