RE: chasing cars/people
Harvey does the whole chasing cars thing, he even lies down in the middle of the road waiting for cars and I have to pull him to the other side of the road! He also jumps up at people & this isn't so good when he is off the lead. So I am hoping you get some answers that can help me haha! He also lies down when he see's a dog, he does the border collie crouch and then lies down, but then he runs up to the dog lol!

RE: chasing cars/people
Keefe never chased cars until 2 months ago! It was a very big problem to me since we live in a small village and walking him off leash is not a problem!
So we started using leashes again, they were like 1,5 m long ( I think that's like 4-5 ft) and we just walked along the road - now here is the tricky part - you need to watch your dog all the time so even when he starts to think about chasing that car which passes you need to correct him/her and reward Him/her. In tam your dog will get it, then you just slowly stop rewarding him/her for that.
That's how I did it!
It worked

RE: chasing cars/people
for jumping up on people you can try this - I haven't tried it yet but I plan to and I am not experienced but I got the idea from the class we are about to start tonight! They tie the dogs leash to something like a fence or whatnot and walk towards the dog, if he jumps up you walk away and start again. You don't go to the dog and treat him until you can get to him while he stays on all fours. This teaches them that they don't get people's attention until they stay on all fours. I don't know if anyone else has tried it but I like the idea.

For cars, Finnigan went from being scared of cars, to just sitting and watching them until they pass and now he still sits but then will sometimes jump up and start to run in that direction - I don't call it chasing yet cause I am still hopeful/in denial, hehe. It's hard for me to anticipate because he doesn't ALWAYS want to "chase" the cars but last night in the front yard he was showing that interest and I just tried my best to distract him and keep him in the sitting position and when he didn't get up to go run after it I treated him. Just got to make him think there is something better than chasing the car. It's hard and I am sure I look like a complete fool in my front yard or on the road but you gotta do what you gotta do, right? LOL Being like Hey look at me I am way better than that moving car, woohooo!!

RE: chasing cars/people
I've had the same problems with buster but he is improving fine when cars pass, the crouching and lying down is hilarious, the problem I have is when I let him off the lead in the park he goes crazy when he hears a car pass and just loses it completely running all over the place and chasing the cars along the fence/hedge, whatever.
luckily he hasn't actually ran out of the park yet but it's really restricting me from letting him off to run about.
when this happens he won't even pay any attention to me it's like he's hypnotized, I'm terrified he's gonna get himself killed doing this, any advice guys
