bad "habit"
Coco is about 15 weeks old now. When I got her in December I noticed that she liked to eat her poop. Well, it is disgusting; I watched her, started to take her outside very often and I clean up after her right away. Today, she started to really enjoy carrots... I gave her some. We went for walks, went potty few times and in the evening I caught her messing up indoors and eating it Speechless-smiley-003... I was reading something online and just heard her gulping something down Eek. Yup.... I knew right away what happened, I have distracted her, took her outside.... and after about 2 hours she did it again! She is taken outside pretty often plus two, sometimes three long walks a day.
Can it be that carrots make it "attractive"? How to end it once and for all before getting anything from pet store I though I ask here first.
She eats twice per day and is fed TOTW (kibbles mixed with some canned totw). I also give her peanut butter, cranberries (as a treat), fresh apples, bananas...

RE: bad "habit"
Fergus used to eat my old girls poo when he was little, we found he was wormy although he'd been wormed as required, plus a little extra. We hit the worms hard and once cleared up he seemed to stop eating poo.

Generally eating poo is thought to be because they are missing something in their diet, which if she has worms and most puppies are born with worms she'll be missing out on all the nurtition from the food.

Won't hurt to try it and see.

RE: bad "habit"
Aren't dogs lovely. Its a very common issue.

I have found most dogs go through a phase of it, watching her like a hawk, as soon as she has done it call her away, and clear it up while she is not watching (can also be a possessive behaviour).

Some people find adding tinned tomatoes to the food can stop it, others say Pineapple and some say courgettes.....nothing I have found works for everyone, other than making sure you watch the dog and clear up before she has a chance to.

Just for interest, if have caught her soiling inside, have you told her off?

RE: bad "habit"
I said "no", pulled her away and cleaned up... but she watched me (if it makes any difference). Since I walk her outside often I thought that she has already given up on it but sure enough it's not the case. Can you give me any idea how I should handle it if it happens again, please?
She still has accidents indoors with both "functions", more with peeing though.
You seem to be knowledgeable so I am going to ask you one more thing.
She pees outside but than why on Earth she still pees.... just tiny tiny pee inside? Sometimes even just a few minutes.... I mean 2 minutes... after we come back home?
Thank you very much Smile

RE: bad "habit"
I would not say no - because BCs can be quite sensitive, (Tassle does this) if she has been told off for being the the same area as her Mess, she may feel like she has to clean it up. (I call Tassle a Cleaner dog - it drives me mad, but I cannot tell her off as it is actually a stressy behaviour).

I would suggest either she is over excited, or worried, or you are not staying out there long enough.

Have you ever rewarded her for preforming outside?

RE: bad "habit"
Thank you Tassle. I stay outside pretty long (depending on what she has to do) and my observation is that it really depends on food that she eats, what treats I give her, walks and/or exercise. I think that I almost figured it out but only time will tell. So far no accidents since the last time Smile
