Update
Well I have not updated you guys with Socks' IMPROVEMENT lately!
I can surely say that I can trust her and she trusts me. Every day we walk down the street and she walks beside me, and has no urges to go off in another direction or whatever.. She has a command to "go play" where I release her from heeling. She usually runs about a yard or two ahead and sniffs the grass. Sometimes, though, I'll have to call her twice to come to me. One time she saw a rabbit running across the road.. she wanted to chase it, and I wanted to try an experiment.. I released her from the heel and she chased after the rabbit. Then I called her back right as she was running across the road, and she did come back! She totally disregarded the rabbit! She's gained lots of courage. Sometimes she doesn't have to think twice about doing something I ask her to do (ie sitting still with a vacuum going off beside her.) She's not as jumpy as she was when I got her. Some of you guys might know this little incident, but during the superbowl last year she was kicked by a "friend" of mine.. she was never fond of feet. But now you can step right over her and she won't flinch! I'm so proud of her, you guys have no idea. I can even trust her not to run across the road/neighbors lawn when we're out in the front yard. Like today.. I actually forgot I put her outside..OOPS on my part! Left her out there for an hour. When I realized I left her out there I expected to go out for a drive looking for her.. But I went outside and yelled her name, only to see her sleeping on the deck! She got lots of cookies for staying! A couple of days ago (day of the tree climbing incident lol!) we were out in the back, and someone came and parked behind my house. Socks got excited to see the stranger but she sat her butt down on the grass and waited for me to tell her what to do! I felt like I was in control. I almost wanted the stranger to look at Socks just to see how good she was being.. I love showing her off lol. She no longer follows and sniffs strangers' butts that walk by the house Oh I can go on with all the positive stuff! Don't mean to boast.. (: -Jude ![]() |

RE: Update
Boast away! You have both earned the right to boast all you want. This is amazing progress. I know what it is to see your furry friend come out of their shell and gain confidence. You and Socks are a perfect match. Well done both of you keep up the good work!
Kelly In their short lives our pets give us all they can...their friendship, unselfish love, and total loyalty. Lucky dog always in my heart |

Thanks guys! Socks and I are going for a playdate with Bruiser and another new BC friend today. I'll try to get some pictures of the meet up.. she's always a little nervous when meeting a new dog!
