Trying to bury food???
Another bizarre thing Vader does is try to bury his food..lol...neither of our other 2 dogs did this....its funny....he will eat and when he is done he pushes the air over his dog dish...LOL...sometimes he tips it over...is there a way to stop this or should i just let it be....its a pain constantly having to pick dog food up..lol...

he was dumped as a puppy to starve in a field...so maybe that has something to do with it, i know when we brought him home the first night he ate like it was his last meal..he was sooo hungry!

A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?

RE: Trying to bury food???
ah darkley did this the other week with one of his bone treat things...tried digging a hole in the living room floor put the treat there then tried to cover it up with invisible dirt with his nose. he is protective of his treats so i am guessing he was trying to hide it and keep it for later Icon_confused first time he has ever done it though! no idea if i should of stopped him or not though..

Bella will do this with rawhide chews which she doesn't get often, she tries to cover it, i have no idea if you can stop this, when Bella has food in her bowl none of it gets left she loves her food too much, if ever she leaves any then she is ill!.

RE: Trying to bury food???
My dads Malinois did this. He would eat almost all of his food then drag it out from the porch and dump it out, then he'd sit in the porch and wait for a bird to come eat it and then he'd try chase the bird one day he cought one! My dad ended up having to cement his bowl to the porch on his dog kennel. Big Grin

RE: Trying to bury food???
We lifted up the settee cushions today to give underneath a hoover and found so many bonio biscuits hidden there it was unreal lol. We watch her bring them in from her bowl in the kitchen and hide them under the cushion, she hid one in hubbies dressing gown which was hanging on the back of the chair last night too Big Grin

RE: Trying to bury food???
Skye did this when she was younger when she'd had a grass seed removed from her jaw and she was off her food for a while and also during her 1st couple of seasons. My friend's min poodle does it all the time, she always ends up hand feeding him on her lap, but she starts off putting his bowl in his crate with him, but he does the burying thing.

RE: Trying to bury food???
Sally hides treats, but she's not a big eater, so it must be the larder thing.
It was old Cap, the uncivilised farm dog, who used to dig massive holes, and bury his bones....whoever has that house now must think there was a murder in the garden.....

RE: Trying to bury food???
Shadow does this all the time! We find half eaten bones and rawhide chews under pillows and cushions and every so often he brings a nasty bit in from the garden.

Shadow was a rescue who was found wandering and very skinny when we got him.
