Sigh...
So some of you may remember the incident which happened with hubby at work 4 weeks ago.
Unfortunately, this has all been investigated and he has been dismissed from work. For swearing in the heat of the moment. Now, I'm the last person to defend ANYONE when they are in the wrong, even if it is Gary, but I feel like he has been really hard done to. The people he works with are inherently lazy, they hardly ever do as they are told and they treat work like a social exercise (he worked in a bar/restaurant). Basically we have a very good case for appeal and tribunal, but it's such a headache and stress to have to go through this. I'm so annoyed because they have basically judged his character as someone he is not, they have said he has been abusive, threatening and they don't think he's a very good manager (he's a team leader, assistant manager, deputy manager & GM above him) even though all his team really like him and he's been getting messages asking when he's going back because they miss him. He has worked so hard for them, even though it was only meant to be a temp measure until he could get back into ICT, put 100% in all the time and he's treated like this. It's so unfair. This year has not been kind so far ![]() Also, thanks to those of you who already know about this and have been so sympathetic and supportive. To add insult to injury our washing machine broke down today.

RE: Sigh...
So sorry to hear all this Vickie
Some people just get away with everything - I see it as its always down to who you know not what you know these days.I was in a similar sitation many years ago. Different reasons, but it came down to them wanting to give me a disciplinary when they knew I wasn't happy in my job and if i left it would have been on my record for the next 3 years. Disciplinary was totally unjust, but the 'tight' team within the company had their ways with getting away with murder and those outside the loop getting treated like total crap... ...so i had to leave without any references and no job to go to and oh it sucked to know they got the last laugh ![]() Is he in a union? I never knew how much help they could be until this all happened. When is the tribunal? Fingers and paws crossed for you both. Remember we're all here... Iona & Skye

RE: Sigh...
Wow that is horrible to go through and so frustrating!! Things will turn around for you guys though, no doubt!
I worked for an evil evillll employer once. They were racist and homophobic to start. And if they decided for some reason they didn't want someone there, they couldn't legally fire them without just cause so they'd do whatever they could possibly do to make the person quit. It was sick. It was hard to watch and I kept tabs on everything they did and told those who had evidence to go to the labour board about them and gaurantee if at least a couple had of gone those owners would never be allowed to employ people again. No one ever wanted to spend the time and energy on it though. I spent my 4 years back and forth on their good side and bad side but I never gave them a good enough reason to go after me plus I think they knew I wasn't like the others and I'd come back to bite them in the ass - and you bet I would have! One time I was scheduled to work a Sunday early morning (4:30am) and I didn't get scheduled this often but on saturday I was water tubing and broke my foot on impact with the water but I didn't know it was broken yet and I called them saying I had done something to my foot but I wasn't sure yet - I was about an hour out of the city so I said I'd sleep on it and decide if I needed to go to the hospital or not because everyone was just telling me I bruised it. I got a call back saying "don't come back to work for a week and only if you have a doc note - CLICK". I called back, no answer. I called again and one of the supervisors answered the phone and started going on to me how they're being ridiculous then she holds the phone away from her and yells "she's not faking it guys stop it" - the manager, who was the evil owners' spawn, thought it was an excuse. Well when I got back to the city I got my bf to stop at my work and I marched into the back with a swollen black and blue foot and hauled it up onto the table infront of the managers face and said do you still think I'm faking it??? Needless to say I came in the next day with a cast and crutches to give them my doctor note and they never treated me badly after that. The manager turned out to be someone I care very deeply for even though I spent the next 4 years watching her do horrible things on behalf of the devil they called April-Dawn (shutter)... Just know Gary's not alone, there's a lot of bad people out there and I wouldn't wanna work for them unless I absolutely had to! I hope he can find a better job and work for better people and leave these ones in the dust!! - Katrina and Finnigan

Thanks Jude
luckily we live at 40 and my nan is at 46, so we can use hers!Katrina, it sucks to have to work for someone like that, and everyone I know has worked for someone who is a horrible person before. I know it'll all come good, I'm staying calm - bills are paid for this month so we don't have to worry until the end of the month. Everything happens for a reason, and there must be a good reason for this. I know the house feels a lot calmer since we found out he doesn't have to ever go back there. Thanks guys

RE: Sigh...
Most of my life (thus far) has been filled with BS like this. Though you're take on the current situations will always be changing, negativity will always exist, and whether or not it's all up in your face, you and you alone choose whether or not to stoop to it's level or let it get the better of you. Negativity will always be there, it may not always be noticeable, but it's always there; We simply choose to ignore it and not let it affect us in an adverse and petty way. But when it get's more in your face and is having an effect on your day to day, you're simply letting it get the better of you; It's perfectly natural, but once you've done all you can do it's just stress and it's not healthy to let that affect you. You need to take a deep breathe, realize that you are right, they are ignorant and accept that you can't change their minds so it's not even worth wasting your limited time on earth dwelling on what you can't do. It's always good to think about these things, but at some point when your thoughts don't change and your just repetitively thinking the same thing over and over you need to just take a deep breath and live your life and not think about it or your going to drive yourself insane.
Sure, you need to worry about it a little because there are things that you need to do, but you can't let them become you. You need to focus on yourself, relax, enjoy life, smell some roses, drink some tea. Things start looking up when you forget about the negative (which is always there in one form or another) and in fact, you'll be much more apt at dealing with your problems when you forget about them for a while. People need breaks. It might seem like working on something for 8 hours straight is more productive than working about 4 hours collectively. But you become stir crazy when you have too much repetition and the quality of thought decreases. Even a short break is enough to make you think much more clearly and level-headed. *Cough* Oh you're doing that? Well, I'm going to leave this post anyway in case it might be encouraging and perhaps it will help someone else. ~Trey. P.S. It's 1am, I know I use this excuse a lot, but I'm really tired so words leave out I do and grammar bad trey when tired... so excuse me... Either way, I'm more purely philosophical when I'm tired. Sleep deprivation makes me high
