Ola Everyone!
Hey everyone! My name is Zachara and I just ran across this forum while searching for a BC support group.
I just adopted my Border Collie last month from my local shelter XD they had him listed as an Australian Kelpie. I've always loved and admired the breed, but I was afraid to get one since I've heard they need LOTS of exercise and mental stimulation. Lucky for me, where I was doubtful my puppy wasn't. He pretty much chose me before I chose him lol! Now the little terror has dug his way straight into my heart and set up residence! I named him Whisper (Whisp for short), he's a 5 month old, male short hair BC. He's so quiet and well behaved. Loves to follow me where ever I go, potty trained in a week, learned basic obedience in 2 days, and gets along GREAT with my 10 year old Cocker Spaniel! The need for exercise hasn't come up just yet. I'm trying to make him my jogging partner but he's content at a brisk walk. Honestly I think I'm going too much for him XD (I'll cherish these moments of beating him at a race while I still can lol!) I've heard lots of horror stories about Border Collies though when handled by novice dog owners. I'm no novice to a dog, but I've never had a Border Collie before. I'm hoping all of the BC experts on here wouldn't mind sharing some of their knowledge. ![]() I love him to pieces and I want him to have the happiest most fulfilling life I can give him! It's the very least I can do after all for the endless love he's been giving me since I picked him up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Register or Login to remove advertisements. |

RE: Ola Everyone!
Welcome to the boards and welcome to the BC world. Once you get suckered in you will never leave Sounds like you got the perfect match up there. He is a very lucky find! Cause what a hansome boy! Love the name too. Seems to fit him. Cant wait to see more pictures, your cocker spaniel is also very hansome. If you do happen to run into any questions/problems, feel free to post them, I am sure we will try to answere them as best as we can!

Ola to you all, and welcome!
Are you from Spain?- BCs are quite popular there, especially with UK retirees!! Lovely dogs. Jo. Seascale, Cumbria, UK. |

RE: Ola Everyone!
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome
![]() @jocap Actually we're from Southern California. It was very surprising to find him there since not many people here have BC's where I live. I've been taking him to the dog park regularly hoping to run into another BC but so far haven't seen even one. @sheepskin_border_collies Thank you very much! XD wish my friends agreed with the name bit. Among 6 of my friends he has 6 different names. lucky for me he only responds to Whisper though.

I'm also new here and let me tell you I quite agree. My pup is around 4 or 5 months, she was potty trained when I got her, knows basic obedience and gets along great with my parents 7 year old dog. Right now I'm a little too much for her at times exercise wise but I'm sure she'll catch up and go beyond me before long, lol |
