New here
Hi y'all.

My name is Ásrún, I'm 22 years old and live in Iceland.
I am new to this forum so I hope you'll all welcome me and my little BC mix I choose to call Flækja.

I recieved her just over two weeks ago when a friend called me and asked if I could foster a puppy which had been brought to the animal hospital to be put down.
Of course I couldn't say no but little did I know that just two days later I'd be calling my friend back saying that I would not be fostering the pup but keeping it!

Now I was told that she was 2,5 months old when I got her which would make her around 3 months now but personally I think it's more likely that she's 4 or even 5 months judging by her size and the fact that her puppyteeth are falling out. Not to mention the wonderful fact that she was housetrained when I got her Big Grin

To quote Mary Poppins she's "practically perfect in everyway". Energetic outside, calm inside, doesn't chew (many) things she shouldn't and like most BC's she is a fast learner
There is however a small problem I am facing. She is very attached to me and finds it hard to be home alone so she whines and cries when I am away. Now I am a student so its never long periods of time she needs to be by herself but she really has to learn this...

anyway enough rambling, here are some photos of my little munchkin

...oh and I think she might be mixed with an Icelandic sheepdog which might explain why her ears are so erect Tongue

Also, I would also guess she's older than 3 months. My little Nitro just turned 3 months and he looks significantly smaller than her.

Welcome to ABC, what a beautiful dog, does her name translate to English?

I have to compliment you on your written English too, I lived in France for 15 years and while my spoken French is more or less there, reading too, my written French is another thing!!

Thank you Smile

Her name - which is prenounced Fly-kja - means tangle.
I chose it because when walking on the lead she is so calm that it just hangs down to her feet and she keps getting tangled up in it!

I need to be careful and remember to hold it up high so that won't happen Wink

RE: New here
Welcome to the forum Smile I absolutely love her markings! She could very well be purebred Smile I agree that she's closer to 5 months than 3 months in age. (Otherwise, you're going to have one big dog Smile)

That is such a great choice of name. Tache is French for patch or stain. France has a tradtion of each year having a particular letter for names for dogs and cats, 2002 was T......

RE: New here
Hi and welcome. Your pup is gorgeous. I agree she looks more like 4.5 - 5 months old, especially as you say she is teething. My pup is just 5 months old.

Looks to be around 5 months old and don't let the erect ears fool you. We have a few here with perfectly erect ears who are all BC.

She is to die for. Tell us, why did they want to put her down? I can't see any sense in that...

RE: New here
I think it had something to do with housing situation and not being allowed to have her. I mean seriously why not check with your landlord if you are allowed to have a dog before you go and get it...

And also I think there is Icelandic Sheepdog in her line because she has double dew claws on her hind legs (though tiny they're there) Not that it matters much, she is my girl and I love her to pieces whether she is purebred or mixed Big Grin

RE: New here
I should think you do!- I'd be crazy about her! My little dog Sally was going to be put down, because we had a bad outbreak of foot and mouth in 2001, and no-one wanted BCs. So we're so relieved it didn't happen.
