Lyme Disease
I stopped in at the local vet this morning to check the place out. I was told we now live in a high risk area for Lyme's Disease. That's not what I wanted to hear.
Zoe and Ari are on Frontline Plus. I won't be using the local vet and will be checking out the animal hospital in the next town. They have 24 hour emergency care. I wanted you to have an update on Ari too. Her last laser treatment was the end of June and since then she has had no limping or back stiffness. She has more room to run and doesn't jump now so I'm sure that helps too. Register or Login to remove advertisements. Linda One Border Collie Is Never Enough |

RE: Lyme Disease
Bad on the lyme disease. Good on the no limping.
Didn't like the vet or is because there is no 24 hour service? In their short lives our pets give us all they can...their friendship, unselfish love, and total loyalty. Lucky dog always in my heart |

RE: Lyme Disease
It was a combination of the office, very dirty, and no 24 hour service.
Being a small office they use the fax number from the bank next door. It's going to take some getting used to the small town life. Linda One Border Collie Is Never Enough |

RE: Lyme Disease
Good to hear Ari is doing well! How far away is the next town? here we have one emergency vet on call 24/7 (My old boss Rob) but around 4 other clinics. Rob's office is the smallest and the furthest away, and it's just him and his 1 assistant, John, so it's not always the cleanest but I trust him the most (and get 20% discount lol). He's the best vet in this county, at least.
How far from your old vet are you? Also, do you see a lot of ticks on the local deer? Brandon Lance & Mick ![]() "Don't think of it as a problem. Think of it as an opportunity for a solution!" |

RE: Lyme Disease
The next town with 24 hour emergency care is only 15 miles. Our vet now is 48 miles away.
I haven't gotten out the spotting scope yet so I can't see if there are ticks on the deer. The fenced area is all cut grass and a few small trees. I know birds can drop ticks in the yard but as long as the dogs are not running through long grass and bushes I'm not sure if there is going to be a real problem. I have never had to deal with ticks but I will be more vigilant about checking the girls. Linda One Border Collie Is Never Enough |

RE: Lyme Disease
Thank goodness we have never had ticks. Green doesn't go into the woods, so unless he becomes a regular at the lake I think we are ok.
