I HELD A SNAKE!

I am terrified of snakes. I mean TERRIFIED. If I see them on TV I cling to my dogs (or husband) for comfort. They are so gross and slimy and sneaky looking. Totally scary. Also, growing up in Alaska, we don't have ANY snakes in the environment, so they're quite foreign to me.

Anyways, today we went to the fair...and I held a snake...all by myself. A real live snake named Chester. Of course, before holding him, I asked the man if he had

1. Ever bitten anyone
2. Ever been mean to anyone
3. Was poisonous

(I assumed no on all of these, but hey you can never be too sure)

Soooo....I held Chester. And got my picture taken

(Of course, I made Drex hold his head.)



(Also, sorry about the awful red-eye and my oh so lovely not done hair. But hey I'm holding a SNAKE so who even cares!)

That is a big snake. Good for you overcoming your fears! I am terrified of frogs and toads. I do mean terrified. I cannot even see a picture of one or one on tv.

Oh I Love snakes! I think they are pleasant creatures. Although if it would have been a spider. NO WAY! Goodjob for facing your fear though!

Wow thats big! Good on you for holding it too I don't think I actually have any real fears. My cousin is terrified of spiders and when Craig started collecting tarantulas it took her a while to come back and visit me! I wasn't too fond of cockroaches, but again since seeing them close up I don't mind them anymore!

There was a big toad, with a damaged leg, trying to cross the road this week-I'm not trying to freak you out, but the creature needed help. I saw a couple coming, and asked them if they had a carrier bag, so I could move it, and the man just rolled up his sleeves, then took it into the field. I was so grateful, because I couldn't have touched it myself.
Well done for the snake!!!
Sally ran across a fat adder again, the other day, but I think it had other things on its mind....a local dog was bitten in the mouth, and the vet said the anti dote was nearly as harmful as the bite, and so long as the throat didn't swell, the dog would survive...and it did, after a lot of rest.

Lauren is very afraid of spiders. Her and Krista called me a few weeks ago crying. They were at the car wash and Lauren's car was FULL of baby spiders. There must have been a nest that hatched. I have never seen so many! I didn't know if I should hose the outside or vacum the inside first. There I was 10:30 pm in my pjs at thr carwash. Had to come home and shower again.
