Green is a hoarder
I know I have asked about this before. When we first got Green he would hide everything we gave him. He still hides milk bones in the couch sometimes. There are still nights that one of us finds a chewy under our pillows when we go to bed. I have no idea where the multiple kongs are despite cleaning every inch of this house over the summer and moving every piece of furniture.
However, last night it was so pathetic I could have cried for him. Or with him actually. I gave him a nice chewy. A big one for the night. He ran around my room with it in his mouth crying. I don't mean wimpering, I mean actually crying. He was so distraught over where to hide it. He has whined over where to hide something before but never to this extent. Also the other day he went at the cat when she walked into the room and his chipmunk was on the floor. I don't mean to attack her, but to bully her away. How in the world do I convince him no one wants his things so he will relax? I feel so bad for him and poor Rumm Tumm doesn't know where to walk now. RE: Green is a hoarder
Aww poor Green! My sister had a dog who would do this. Just lovely to find a nice gooey rawhide under your sheets...
I'm afraid I don't have any advice, poor chap. Alanna and Bonnie

RE: Green is a hoarder
Thunder used to hide his bones in my husbands clothes, he didn't think it was very funny, but I did.
I asked god for a best friend and he gave me a Border Collie

Bob just politely returns the bones he finds under his pillow.

RE: Green is a hoarder
He was so stressed the other night with that stupid bone I wished I never gave it to him. He doesn't always do that. It has to be something he really values. Just a regular chewie he's ok with leaving it laying around. Small milk bones r ok. Usually medium is too. Large are very valuable though. Kings have disappeared.

RE: Green is a hoarder
He must have stashes in all of his hiding places if he didn't know where to put another one. Maybe don't give him any for a couple of days, to see if he starts bringing them out.

RE: Green is a hoarder
Hi. My BC isn't a hoarder, but my yorkie/bichon is. She does the whole panic whining running around the house too. I did quit giving her treats and toys for a few days and they DID start reappearing. She had taken her nylabones OUTSIDE and buried them, I have cream colored carpet, she brought them back in...It seems the less I give them to her, the more she "finds" her stashed ones and the less she stresses about them. I have found chewed rawhides under my pillow, sticks and mulch between the couch cushions, pretzels under my blankets... yeah. I love her!

RE: Green is a hoarder
Tucker is just starting to notice when the cats come near his food bowl (if he left some) and also if they go near the water bowls (which are shared). The other day we saw him taking his last few pieces of kibble out of the bowl & trying to hide them under the corner of the carpet. He noses the cats away from the water and then drinks until the bowl is empty! Anyway, I've found that when I see that, I just take the bowl up for a bit & say something silly , like "mommy will put take care of this for you" Then he walks away and forgets about it.. I think he's just noticing this more now that its colder here & the cats are in the house more. The good thing is he is much gentler with the cats now and 2 out of 3 love him back.

RE: Green is a hoarder
We always know if Sally's hoarding, because she pushes the treat with her nose under things, and makes a snorting sound as she does it.....then she forgets-for ever- and I just re-use them.....
