Flies!!!!!
Does anyone have a method to keep flies off of your dogs. I am not too keen about chemicals.

RE: Flies!!!!!
Rub your dog down with a bounce sheet. The flies don't like the smell, I use it on the dogs before we go in the woods. I used to use them on my horses instead of fly spray. Also, they can be used on a wet dog to take the sting out of the smell.

I am not keen on chemicals either, but the only thing I have found that works is K-9 Advantix. No fleas, flies, mosquitos, ticks or any other bugs. They don't even bother me when Silky is laying by my feet outside. I only use it April through September. Eusa_dance

RE: Flies!!!!!
Lance knows how to get rid of em.

Or does that make it worse... The fabric softener sounds like a good thing to try. We've been having lots of flies around here lately as well.

RE: Flies!!!!!
My mom is allergic to alot of things. She read about rubbing the bounce dryer sheets on your skin. She said it does help but you have to reapply often. For herself she has found the little OFF personal fan works well. Not so sure how you would make it work for a dog though.

RE: Flies!!!!!
So glad the Bounce sheets are working out! We only have unscented and lavender. How do you think Green would feel about that?

RE: Flies!!!!!
Funny....I've just been reading about using Bounce sheets on fly-away hair on cruise ships, on my other forum.
FLY_AWAY it is then!

RE: Flies!!!!!
Wait... there's unscented bounce? That's something that could have been brought to my attention yesterday! Lance and Mick smell like laundry now. Laughing-smiley-004 It does work though. Does the unscented work too?

RE: Flies!!!!!
We have to try the Bounce sheets because the flies are out of control this year.

RE: Flies!!!!!
I'm just surprised that I'm the only one who does this. Lmao, normally I'd be like, "HEY GUYS!" and everyones like.. "...yeah.. we know." xD I love the bounce sheet trick, It even helps when grooming, Max has such fluffy fur that when you brush him, he looks like he did just fall out of the dryer, so I use a bounce sheet and bye bye static. Lol Kelly, I'm sure Green would be happy to be fly free regardless of how he smells. Heh.

I don't think that our dogs have ever had flies? If yours do then I don't think that I am of much help!

Brandon I am literally laughing out loud! Lance and Mick smell like laundry now just made my day. I have not had a problem with flies so I have not tried it. We always keep the regular Bounce at the lake so I don't know if the unscented would work. At least the boys don't smell like lavender vanilla. Green says that would be humiliating.

Must be the sandwich bags with pennies and water that Mr. Z has hanging on his garage keeping the flies away. Eusa_dance

OMG I completely forgot about that! Laughing-smiley-004 My neighbor had 3 ziploc bags half full with water with a few shiny pennies in each bag. I asked him what in the world was he doing? He said he read it keeps the flies away and he swears it does.
