Fire

Was reading about the fire in California, hoping that all our friends there aren't in harm's way.

The one in Cajon pass is about an hour NW of us. The smoke hasn't settled into the valley yet but it's only a matter of time. They lifted evacuation orders and have it 60% contained. I hope no one gets hurt!

It seems like fire season came late this year. We have had 3 fires in the last two weeks. Nothing too major though. About 100 acres burned in one. But one was only a mile away.

We have had kind of a lot here too. It took FOREVER for summer to get going and get hot, I assume that's what the deal is.

Sounds like they're doing a good job with it. I'm often impressed with our firefighters. You should have seen it here the other day with the fire near my place. Plane after plane and helicopters flying over my house with those huge loads of water from the lake. They took care of the fire relatively quick.

Today I don't see any smoke.

We didn't get hit with the smoke but I imagine Palms Springs got it pretty good though. Diamond Valley Lake is very close (15 min) to here is where they load water from, there's a municipal air strip 5 min from the lake that houses a pretty good number of CF air craft, we see them overhead all the time.

Fire fighters have tons of respect from me, they give 100% always. You never hear "Oh yeah, I became a fire fighter cause they make good money", awesome people they are

Ah, good to hear. You're right, they get paid so little and many of them are volunteers. And definitely one of the most important jobs in the world.
