FIRE
There is a good sized brush fire (as of 5pm last night) burning at the base of idyllwild (So Cal..not the LA fires)... That is so close that we can see the flames from the house. It is to be between 112 and 118 degrees today with moderate wind. Please pray that no one gets hurt.

Re: FIRE
I wish I could send you some of our constant rain. It would have those fires out in a Jiffy. I pray no one gets hurt or burnt out.

Re: FIRE
Fire is a fact of life down here....which is all well and good, but I did not grow up down here and I am afraid of fire. I have issues. This is very stressful for me. So if I seem like I'm obsessing...(I am)... sorry Icon_confused

The smoke has cleared from the valley quite a bit from this morning (it was like a thick fog)...now it's just hazy and the mtn on fire isn't visible anymore. I'll take some pix for you guys

Re: FIRE
I stand corrected, they have ordered evac's. Valle Vista is a 'burb of Hemet. When I went to bed last night the fire was only 250 acres

Cottonwood Fire
As of 8 a.m., San Bernardino National Forest officials are saying the fire has burned through at least 1,000 acres and has been contained at five percent. Located two miles east of Hemet, where temperatures are predicted to be 106 with light winds today, an mandatory evacuation order is in affect for Willowbrook Road in the Val Vista area, according to Melinda Lyon of the Forest Service. Highway 74 between Borco Street and Highway 243 in Mountain Center is closed.

Re: FIRE
Thanks for the reassurance. I know all of us here are worried, but I have a phobia... I made myself go to sleep at 9 pm last night to avoid the news. We were driving last night and you could see the fire line/ flames and it made me sick to my stomach and start crying. I'm such a basket case Laughing-smiley-004 Stick me in a box of snakes, tarantulas, whatever just dont put fire near me.

Re: FIRE
You have a legitimate fear. Fire can and is very dangerous is certain settings, this being one of them.

You don't have a problem evacuating if you have to do you? How about LJ?

Can you give us an idea of where the Cottonwood fire is adjacent to your home? Sorry I know where nothing is in CA.

Be safe.

Either that is a stone chip in the windshield or that's a UFO.

Re: FIRE
chip... happened the day after replacing the windshield. Lj made up some new four letter words for that one.

Also, hemet/san jacinto/ valle vista is all the same. We're in between SJ and VV
