RE: December Photo Contest Winner!
Thank you so much for your kind words, everyone. I'm sure everyone's been through times like that depicted in the picture and even worse/better. It was the strangest feeling because Saffy wasn't 'through it' all, yet this was a time of joy to be able to hold her again. Such a confused mixture of joy and pain just rips through you because you just don't know how to 'be'. Well, that's my take on it - I wonder if anyone else can comment?

This moment marked just about the first point where the joy was in the lead, however.

I'm in danger of rambling and becoming all maudlin again, so I'll stop it there. It's not just about a picture. My family (and my dogs, if only they could understand) know that this is a great place where its members understand dogs and love them wholeheartedly. It's a place of sharing and of common concern and helpfulness. Good grief, I know from a good look around recently that I've only scratched the surface of what knowledge exists on here!

Thank you to ABC and all its members for your help, compassion, love, time and support.

Sincerely yours,
Simon, Paula, Damien, Saffy and Abbie. xxx

Four paws up from me (and eight from my two canine cohorts)! A very well-deserved best photo.

Gee Simon, way to make a girl well up!

I know exactly what you mean, I've only experienced it with Sam our cat, but man I didn't know what to do with myself - cry, laugh, hug the vet...just for your baby to acknowledge the fact you are there again and be able to hug and stroke them is amazing, even if you have to walk away and leave them with the vet again!

Saffy is so lucky to have you as owners.
