Collie behavior help
Hi i was wondering if anyone could give me advice on my border collies behaviour?

Milo is a 2 and half year old male, and for the last few months hes been acting strange, hes very playful all of the time but when you just speak to him he kind of cowards and thinks hes done something bad all the time. Also he has all of a sudden taking a disliking to my dad and will not go near him and if he approaches him he cowards down and shows his teeth! He is good to him walks him probly the most and is with him the most (my dad also has another dog). One minute he can be lying cuddled up being petted then all of a sudden for no reason growl, snap sometimes resulting in biting.

He is a clever dog that sits, paws, plays dead, rolls over etc etc. But the past few months hes started being very strange its at the point now no one even wants to take him on any more incase he snaps suddenly!

Hes never ever been hit for any atol hes done but the way hes acting you'd think hes been bad used. He gets free run of garden and house he even chooses which bed he sleeps in he is basically really spoiled lots of toys and best of food etc but he's just went a bit strange.

He absolute adores kids and crys to get out to play with them and is fine with them.

I've been told dressing him could help but im not 100% sure

Has anyone came across this before or know what might be wrong with him would be much appreciated before he does something terrible.

First thing for me would be a complete vet check - then go from there.

I agree, a vet check to make sure there is nothing physically wrong.

Ditto that on the vet check. Was he reprimanded by dad for something?

That's my thoughts as well, has someone been mean to the Milo even if not intentionally?
our 15 year old JRT female was abused by a man as a pup, she "never" forgot or out grew this.
I had to be very careful around her as to not cause what you are describing.

RE: Collie behavior help
One thing I know with Izzy is that he is highly sensitive, and especially so around men. I'm wondering if your dad got upset at some point and raised his voice at Milo. With some highly sensitive dogs that's all it takes...they feel the vibrations of either anger or frustration coming from the human and then any verbal discipline given in that tone could frighten them, much more than we would realize. If so, the dog could become shy around that person for quite some time, at least until his trust is re-instilled.
