Are Kelpies descended from BCs?

So I am a little confused....
Are Kelpies descended from Border Collies or Smooth Coated "Lassie" type Collies or a mix of both?
Been researching cos Loki's mum is a Kelpie but I can't get it clear in my head.

Also read somewhere that the "Lassie" type Collies have Borzoi somewhere in their ancestry? Is this the case?

I know the information is on another border collie forum, but if it's allowed to post here (Brandon or someone?) there is a lot of information about Kelpies there and the distinction between Kelpies and Border collies.

They would flip over there, just wanted to make sure it was okay. There is often really good health and genetic information on that board.

From what I can tell, the dogs that Kelpies are descended from may have predated the foundation dog of the BC ? So, close cousins since they are all descended from working sheepdogs from northern Britain .
Now, I wonder if these dogs were themselves descendants of other more ancient breeds...did the celts bring them from eastern Europe to Britain during their diaspora? That would be nifty- plus I could sneak it into my history dissertation!
