Antlers
Does anyone give their dogs antlers as chews? I got a couple for the girlies at Christmas and they went down very well but they were a bit small TBH. So I have ordered a couple more, larger, ones.

Oh, to live on Cannock Chase or Chatsworth ... better still, Yellowstone Park!

Well, the ones I got were from here ... if anyone knows of any alternative UK-based suppliers, or even suppliers of long-lasting chew toys, I'd be most interested, as my two are super-chewers!

Cheers,
Simon.

RE: Antlers
All my dogs have had antlers to chew on always. They are second only to raw bones. I recently got some Elk antlers and Ari was afraid of them. Now she is chewing like there was never a problem.

Maybe someone in the UK knows of a good supplier. Have you looked on eBay?

RE: Antlers
Holly's never had these, it cost quite abit by the looks of it, which is fine if it last a while, but i'm not sure Holly would like the outside of it, so i just stick with raw bones, knuckle bones, and her filled hooves.

Absolutely re: the cost, it’s a heck of a price if they are going to get through one in a day or so, but if they last a few weeks, that’s different. That’s why I’m giving the DougalsDen antlers one more try at the XL size. Alternatively, I’d be happy to get them more frequently from somewhere else if they were lower priced.

Now I’m going to show my ignorance here … what kind of raw bones to you use? Beef? Pork? And if they are raw, surely they don’t last that long? Way back before we had Saffy, I’d get Abbie cooked bones from the butchers and these went down well and lasted fairly well. Well, on another occasion, I went to a different butchers and they gave me loads of raw pig bones. Abbie wolfed a couple of these really quickly as they were quite soft, but then they came back up soon afterwards. Could that just be about how quickly she ate them?

I've never heard of people giving their dog's antlers before I might have to give it a try.

RE: Antlers
Yep, beef raw bones for Holly too, they don't last her that long, but they clean her teeth, which is more what i want, of course it helps that it keeps her quiet too!, Big Grin actually her filled hooves last her longer than anything else, she loves them, and even when the filling has gone she still likes a chew on them, so i leave it out for a few days, don't cost much either about a £1 each.
