Am I feeding him enough?
So we feed Nitro 3 times a day.

A 1/2 cup at 9am, a 1/2 cup at 1pm, and a 1/2 cup at 6pm. However as soon as we put food down he eats it as if he's starving and finishes it in less than a minute.

He also sits by the counter just staring up at the food (we've taught him to sit and wait to be fed so he just sits waiting to be fed)

I don't mind feeding him more if he needs it, but I don't want to overfeed him either.

Do you know how much Nitro weighs? If you follow the guidelines on the package you should be fine. And adjust if he starts getting too heavy or skinny.

Hm I actually haven't weighed him lately...Now I'm curious! Off to the scale we go!
Alright results in...16.5lbs! He is getting SO big! He was 6.7lbs when we got him!

According to the feeding chart on our food (TOTW High Prairie) a 9 week old, 16.5lbs puppy should get between 2 1/4 - 3.5 cups a day. I'd give him 2 1/2 and see how he does.. Smile

However, if you're feeding Science Diet still he probably needs more.

ETA: looks like HSD is about the same.

We're off of science diet! Big Grin I forced the change a little quicker than I normally would, but he did great. I think I was just really anxious to get him onto something that actually was good for him.

Alright I think we'll go with feeding him 2 1/2 cups. The LAST thing I want to do is leave him hungry.

RE: Am I feeding him enough?
The package should have a chart for age/weight feeding and yes, that's a good spot to start. With Bonnie, I had to feed a bit more than the recommended because she has such a high energy output, and she still stays thin.

Yeah he's really active but he's definitely a little bit of a pig...he even growls at his sister (beagle) while she eats.
