A poem to my Daughter Tegan and her Border Elly

A Girl and Her Dog


My dear friend, you never worry about a trend.

You sit by me day in, and day out. And always lick my tears when I pout!

You wag your tail when I am mad, and nuzzle me when I am sad.

You wait by the steps with me-- every day to see what we can see.

You never leave my side, even when I've cried.

You told mommy when I opened the door, you showed us all you are loyal to the core.

You only want to please, even if that means chasing animals up the trees.

When you and I first got to snuggle-- I told mommy I loved your huggles!

Every night before bed I ALWAYS sneak you some cookie bread.

Those monsters you bite, and Mommy says you'll always win that fight.

The dark doesn't scare me anymore-- In fact Elly and I will give you a tour!

Mommy says you'll be my best friend forever and ever...

and mommy you're right.... I'll never have another friend like Elly...Never....

--This little kid styled poem was writen due to the event--
I was taking a shower after both girls were down for a nap, and had the bottom lock to our front door locked. Oddly enough Elly may started barking up a storm yelping like she was dieing. So i jumped out of the shower wrapped a down around me and walked into the hallway where she was jumping up and down and took off running into the living room. I followed her only to find.... The front door was wide open. So i ran out to see Elly May sitting on the porch steps with my three year old daughter Tegan.....
It scares me to death to think that if Elly hadn't been there I still would have been in the shower.. and who knows what could have happened. Dogs truly are mans best friend, and border collies are just simply amazing!

She's one of the best dogs i've had the pleasure of meeting let alone able to have in my life.
Granted I love all my animals hahah but she holds that certain place in my heart!
