2 topics here :)
Hey guys, first thing was I wanted to ask you about Dentastix. Does anybody else use them? Now Harvey has grown up teeth I bought him some and he loves them, however I know they add extra calories, does anyone know the calorie content of a dentastix? They haven't printed it on the box, so I don't know how much less I should be feeding him in his meals!

Secondly, I have finally found out why Harvey wasn't eating his food! I was doing the whole thing where if he hadn't eaten after 15 mins then his food gets taken away, but then he wouldn't eat for days... he didn't like his food... DUH! So I put him on a wet & dry food diet and now he wolfs it down in minutes! YAY! He acually still has the food he was on before, but now it is disguised with meat Wink. He's currently licking the empty bowl as we speak haha!

RE: 2 topics here :)
I used to give my old girl dentastix and just give her slightly less food depending on if she'd had one or not. Personally I think there's much better things out there to clean a dogs teeth. My guys get rawhide, pigs ears, filled hoofs these are definately the favourite and seem to last forever, bones (fresh and steralised), rope toys are good to keep their teeth clean, although we've had many an explosion as Fergus tears them to pieces. I know a lot of people on here give antlers but I just find them too expensive and as they enjoy what I already give them they seem happy.

As for the food i'm glad he's sorted it out Big Grin Fergus is very fussy and doesn't like anything that's fishy or too strong smelling, this was hard work as he came to us on Fish4Dogs and the poor guy didn't wanna eat!

Theres actually a really good thing you get at pets at home and the vets, its called Plaque-off and you put it their food to clean their teeth Big Grin.

I might try pigs ears (however my cousins a veterinary nurse and said that he can't get pigs ears till he is older because big chunks can break off and choke them, or something, I dunno, so I have avoided them!), he always has a rawhide bone aswell Smile. Ive bought 56 dentastix though sooooo, he will get them for a couple months! haha Smile (it was £12 for 2 boxes so I thought why not?). I might get the antlers, but when I have a bigger paycheque Wink

Holly has a denta stix every night before bed time, has done since she has been old enough to eat them, she loves them, can't say i have cut her food down because of them, never really thought to do so, and her weight is ok anyway, she also has pigs ears too, and filled hooves aswell, and raw bones and knuckle bones, they all keep her teeth nice and clean.
