Border Collies can vary greatly in appearance
from one dog to the next. They are long/rough
coated to short/smooth coated. Some are smaller
at 25-30lbs while others may be up to around
50-60lbs.
Kennel clubs,
such as the AKC, have "guidelines" on how a
Border Collie should look but these guidelines
are only for conformation show dogs and should
generally be ignored, for there is no real "way
a Border Collie should look". A real working
Border Collie will very rarely, if ever, look
like one of the show Border Collies.
